10 Year Anniversary Scottish Parliament Event
A Decade of Water Safety Scotland
On the 11th of December Water Safety Scotland’s 10 Year Anniversary Event took place at the Scottish Parliament. This event brought together MSPs and the membership and supporters of Water Safety Scotland, including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), RNLI, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Scottish Swimming, and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The event was supported by Siobhian Brown, Minister for Victims and Community Safety and it was hosted by Clare Adamson, MSP for Motherwell and Wishaw and the Convenor of the Cross-Party Group on Accident Prevention and Safety Awareness.
Speeches were given by Clare Adamson, MSP, and the Minister for Victims and Community Safety, Siobhian Brown, as well as Steve Cole, RoSPA’s Director of Policy and Carlene McAvoy the founder of Water Safety Scotland and Senior Policy Manager for RoSPA. This event acknowledged the dedicated work of WSS members, partners and staff over the past decade, as well as the significant strides made in improving water safety measures and messaging in Scotland, at both a national and local level.
