Activity Safety

Spending time on or in the water is a great way to enjoy the amazing locations that Scotland has to offer. Undertaking water-based activities is an excellent way to enjoy the outdoors, be active, learn new skills and most importantly have fun. However, with every activity comes a certain level of risk, and these risks should always be considered before undertaking any activity in or on the water.

We recommend always following the water safety code, which involves firstly risk assessing your surroundings and then applying the steps of the code at all times. Please select your activity from the grid below.

It's always wise to bear in mind the weather forecast and the fact that conditions can change quickly and, if you're not prepared, you can easily get caught out.
